Learning and Teaching

A ‘KTS Curriculum’ has been designed specifically for the pupils at KTS. This curriculum ensures continuity and consistency across school, as well as making it easier to monitor what is being taught and ensure high standards are being maintained, resulting in the best possible outcomes for our pupils. Many different curriculums were researched and reviewed, looking at other SEND schools, as well as mainstream schools. Other agencies were also consulted including the speech and language service and occupational therapy service. Based on the information that was gathered, the KTS Curriculum was developed, which combines the perceived best practice.

3 Curriculum Pathways

  • KTS Developmental Curriculum

  • KTS Formal Curriculum

  • KTS+ Curriculum

  • All classes will follow one of the curriculum pathways, however there may be pupils who need individual timetables based on another curriculum.

  • KTS1, 2 and 3 for all pathways will follow a half termly topic on a 3 year rolling programme.  Topics have been chosen for the first two years and reflect a selection of themes which support history, geography and science subject areas and reflect the interests of the cohort of pupils.
