Hello, I am Sarah Gunn and I am extremely proud to be the headteacher at KTS Academy.
KTS Academy is a specialist provision for pupils aged 3 to 19 years, where our vision – supporting lifelong learning and happiness through quality education, respect and equality for all – isn't just words on a page. It shapes everything we do, from how we design our learning spaces to how we celebrate each pupil's unique journey.
This school has been part of my life long before I became headteacher. When my brother was a pupil here, KTS Academy didn't just provide his education – it offered our family genuine support, guidance and partnership. That experience showed me what exceptional specialist education looks like: it's built on strong relationships, mutual trust, and a deep commitment to understanding and celebrating each child's individuality. Leading this school means I can ensure that every family experiences that same dedication.
What truly sets us apart is the relationships we build with families and the professionals who support your child. We don't just work alongside you – we partner with you, listening to your insights, responding to your concerns, and adapting our approach as your child grows and develops. This collaborative approach means that every decision we make puts your child at the heart of what we do.
Through high-quality teaching, tailored support and a rich and varied curriculum that goes beyond the academic, we provide our pupils with the best possible educational experience. Our curriculum is adapted to suit the needs of each individual child, offering everything from sensory learning and outdoor play to qualifications such as ASDAN, Functional Skills and vocational courses, alongside a wide variety of activities and learning opportunities.
Our staff are empathetic, friendly and approachable, using creative and imaginative strategies to help every pupil learn in their own way. We celebrate individuality and recognise that each child has their own unique relationship with learning – and we're here to nurture that.
"The variety of activities and learning opportunities are excellent."
"The curriculum is adapted to suit the needs of the child – it's truly tailored."
"Staff are friendly, approachable, empathetic and very supportive."
"The engagement with, and support for, my child's needs on an individual level is outstanding."
"They use creative and imaginative strategies for learning."

And from one of our pupils: "The staff take care of the children and help us learn."
Everything we do reflects our four core values:
A Unique Child – celebrating and nurturing individuality
Positive Relationships – built on empathy, support and genuine care
Enabling Environments – expertly tailored spaces that are rich and varied
Learning and Development – equipping pupils with independence, knowledge, skills and resilience for the future
