Pupil Absence

KTS Academy aims to meet its obligations with regards to school attendance by:

  • Promoting good attendance and reducing absence, including persistent absence
  • Ensuring every pupil has access to full-time education to which they are entitled
  • Acting early to address patterns of absence
  • We will also support parents to perform their legal duty to ensure their children of compulsory school age attend regularly.

Managing Pupil Illness and Infection Control

This link will open a page from the UK Health Security Agency.  This guidance refers to public health exclusions to indicate the time period an individual should not attend a setting to reduce the risk of transmission during the infectious stage. This is different to ‘exclusion’ as used in an educational sense.

Is my child too ill for school?

It can be tricky deciding whether or not to keep your child off school or nursery

There are government guidelines for schools and nurseries about health protection and managing specific infectious diseases at GOV.UK. These say when children should be kept off school and when they shouldn't.

Vomiting and diarrhoea

Children with diarrhoea or vomiting should stay away from school until they have not been sick or had diarrhoea for at least 2 days (48 hours).
